If you’re passionate about space technology and thrive in a remote work environment, we want you on our team.
Position Overview:
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the overall design, integration, and optimization of systems across multiple aerospace projects. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that complex systems function seamlessly and meet both performance and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, a deep understanding of aerospace technologies, and the ability to think critically about the integration of hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and integration of complex aerospace systems, ensuring they meet mission requirements, performance standards, and safety protocols.
- Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software, and propulsion) to ensure that all system components are properly integrated.
- Develop system architecture, requirements, and specifications for new projects, ensuring all components align with overall mission objectives.
- Perform system modeling and simulations to predict and optimize system performance.
- Conduct risk assessments and failure mode analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential issues early in the development process.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to define and review system interfaces, data flows, and system behaviors.
- Oversee system testing and validation, ensuring systems are thoroughly tested under real-world conditions and meet all regulatory and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance throughout the development lifecycle, from initial design through testing and deployment.
- Continuously monitor system performance and identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and optimization.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design documents, test plans, and final reports.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, performance, and scalability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in aerospace or a related high-tech field.
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Model-Based Systems Engineering, SysML, MATLAB, Simulink).
- Experience with system integration, modeling, and simulation for complex systems.
- Familiarity with aerospace systems, including propulsion, avionics, and structural design.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform trade studies, risk analysis, and failure mode assessments.
- Proficiency in system testing, validation, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
- Experience with software integration and coordination with software engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with remote, cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, DO-178C, FAA, or similar) is a plus.
- Passion for space exploration and a strong desire to contribute to mission-critical systems.
