This role will be critical in ensuring the protection of our digital and physical assets against cyber threats, unauthorized access, and other security risks.
Position Overview:
The Security Specialist will oversee the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of security measures across our organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to assess vulnerabilities, enforce security protocols, and ensure that Chimera Rocket Labs’ operations are secure from cyberattacks, data breaches, and other security incidents. The ideal candidate will have experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and security technologies, as well as a passion for securing mission-critical systems in the aerospace sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage security policies, procedures, and standards to safeguard the organization’s digital and physical assets.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify potential risks and weaknesses.
- Monitor internal systems and networks for signs of security breaches or unusual activity, and respond to incidents in a timely and effective manner.
- Work with IT, DevOps, and engineering teams to ensure secure development practices and secure configurations for applications and infrastructure.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of access control policies, including identity and access management (IAM) protocols.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity regulations, industry standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Provide guidance and training to employees on security best practices and ensure adherence to security protocols across the organization.
- Stay up to date with the latest security threats, trends, and technologies, and propose solutions to address emerging risks.
- Prepare and maintain security documentation, including incident reports, risk assessments, and audit logs.
- Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders on security-related matters.
- Provide recommendations for improving physical security measures for on-site facilities, if applicable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, encryption technologies, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other cybersecurity tools.
- Experience with cloud security platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and securing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and regulations such as NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
- Knowledge of risk management and threat analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in security incident response, vulnerability management, and penetration testing.
- Experience with network and system monitoring tools (e.g., SIEM, Splunk, Wireshark).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and secure coding practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.
- Experience working in aerospace or similar high-security industries is a plus.
