This role will focus on ensuring the success of our launch operations, from planning and preparation to execution and post-launch analysis.
Position Overview:
The Launch Engineer will be responsible for supporting all aspects of launch operations, including system readiness, coordination with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of launch activities. This role requires a strong background in aerospace systems, operational planning, and troubleshooting to ensure mission success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of launch operations, including pre-launch preparation, countdown procedures, and post-launch activities.
- Design and analyze launch vehicle systems to ensure readiness and performance during flight.
- Collaborate with propulsion, avionics, structures, and systems teams to ensure integration and functionality of all launch systems.
- Develop and maintain procedures, checklists, and contingency plans for launch activities.
- Monitor and assess real-time data during launches, identifying and resolving any anomalies.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for any issues encountered during launch or testing.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Utilize simulation tools to model launch scenarios and optimize performance.
- Coordinate with external partners, vendors, and government agencies as needed for launch operations.
- Provide post-launch reports and recommendations for continuous improvement of launch processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in launch operations, aerospace systems, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of rocket propulsion systems, structures, avionics, and telemetry.
- Experience with launch operations planning and execution, including troubleshooting during countdowns.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance for aerospace operations.
- Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Strong organizational and communication skills for working in a remote, cross-functional environment.
- Experience with systems engineering processes and tools is a plus.
