Position Overview:
As an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to assist in the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems and components used in aerospace applications. You will be involved in supporting engineering projects, learning from experts in the field, and gaining practical experience in mechanical design, testing, and manufacturing processes. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong academic foundation in mechanical engineering who are eager to develop their skills and contribute to real-world aerospace projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for aerospace applications.
  • Work under the supervision of senior engineers to help design and create 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and prototypes.
  • Support the analysis of mechanical systems using tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Assist in the preparation and review of engineering documentation, including specifications, test plans, and assembly instructions.
  • Participate in the creation of prototypes and assist in the testing of components to ensure that they meet performance and safety standards.
  • Conduct research to identify new materials, techniques, and technologies to improve mechanical designs and systems.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure that designs are practical and cost-effective for production.
  • Support the development and testing of mechanical assemblies and subsystems, ensuring they meet required specifications.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving engineering issues that arise during the development and testing phases.
  • Document findings and assist in creating reports that communicate design results and test outcomes to the engineering team.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing input on design concepts, and learning best practices from senior engineers.
  • Continuously improve engineering knowledge by participating in training programs and staying updated on the latest trends in mechanical engineering and aerospace technology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or in the process of completing) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong academic foundation in mechanical engineering principles, such as thermodynamics, material science, dynamics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FEA and CFD analysis tools is beneficial but not required.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical properties is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn from senior engineers.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Familiarity with the aerospace industry or a keen interest in space exploration is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
