Position Overview:
As a Data Engineer at Chimera Rocket Labs, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining the data pipelines and infrastructure that support critical aerospace projects. Your expertise in data architecture, data warehousing, and big data technologies will be key to ensuring that high-quality, efficient, and scalable data solutions are in place to support various departments, including engineering, operations, and research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process and integrate large datasets from various sources.
- Optimize data flow and collection for cross-functional teams, ensuring data is available, accurate, and timely.
- Work with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) to design and implement cloud-native data storage solutions.
- Create and maintain data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring that the data is properly structured for analysis and reporting.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to ensure data infrastructure meets organizational needs.
- Develop and implement strategies for data quality, monitoring, and error handling.
- Integrate data from various sources, ensuring seamless flow and accessibility for analytics and reporting.
- Support data governance, ensuring data privacy, security, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Automate data processes to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency in data management.
- Optimize database performance and implement best practices for data storage, retrieval, and management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruptions in data access.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-centric role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Experience with big data tools and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and cloud-based data storage solutions.
- Experience with data warehousing technologies (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data manipulation and pipeline development.
- Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration techniques.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data challenges.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the aerospace, technology, or similar high-tech industries.
- Experience with data modeling, metadata management, and data governance.
- Knowledge of machine learning models and data pipelines for advanced analytics.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
