Position Overview:
As a Data Scientist at Chimera Rocket Labs, you will be responsible for analyzing large datasets to uncover insights, make predictions, and contribute to mission-critical aerospace projects. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and product teams to turn complex data into actionable insights, supporting decision-making and optimizing the performance of our space exploration technologies. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, statistical analysis, and a passion for problem-solving in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources, including sensors, operational systems, and external data.
- Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms to identify trends, make predictions, and optimize performance.
- Use statistical analysis, data mining, and modeling techniques to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.
- Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to design experiments and define data-driven solutions for aerospace systems.
- Visualize data insights through charts, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical teams.
- Perform data analysis and simulation to support decision-making in design, operations, and mission planning.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of predictive models to enhance the performance, safety, and reliability of space technologies.
- Integrate data science solutions with other systems, databases, and cloud platforms to create scalable data pipelines.
- Research and stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to continuously improve methods and practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and deliver tailored solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with a proven track record of working with large datasets and machine learning models.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with experience in data analysis and machine learning libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Solid understanding of statistics, data modeling, and machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau) to present complex data insights.
- Familiarity with databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and experience with data wrangling and data pipeline development.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to approach complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in aerospace, space technology, or similar high-tech industries is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Knowledge of predictive analytics, optimization techniques, and time series analysis.
- Experience working with real-time data processing and edge computing systems.
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of simulation and modeling techniques used in aerospace or engineering applications.
