Position Overview:
The Information Security Analyst at Chimera Rocket Labs will be responsible for safeguarding the company’s systems, applications, and data against cyber threats. This role involves assessing security risks, implementing security protocols, and monitoring systems to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of our software and hardware systems while supporting a secure, remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies, procedures, and protocols to protect the company’s software, hardware, and data assets.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential risks and weaknesses in systems and networks.
- Monitor network traffic and system logs to detect any unusual or suspicious activity that could indicate a security breach.
- Collaborate with engineers and developers to design and implement secure coding practices and ensure that software systems meet industry security standards.
- Manage and update firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools to safeguard systems from unauthorized access.
- Perform incident response and investigation activities in the event of a security breach, ensuring quick resolution and effective risk mitigation.
- Maintain and monitor encryption standards, secure data storage, and secure communication methods for sensitive information.
- Conduct security awareness training for employees to promote best practices in information security across the organization.
- Assist with compliance efforts related to industry standards and regulations, such as NIST, ISO, and GDPR, ensuring that the company meets legal and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments and help identify potential security weaknesses in new technologies or software implementations.
- Document security incidents, create incident reports, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging cybersecurity threats and implement the latest security technologies and practices to protect the company’s assets.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure that external systems and services used by the company are secure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related IT field.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, risk management, and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR).
- Proficiency in security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection.
- Experience with network security, cryptography, and secure coding practices.
- Familiarity with cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and securing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Knowledge of security protocols, such as SSL/TLS, VPNs, and multi-factor authentication.
- Ability to perform risk assessments, identify potential vulnerabilities, and mitigate security threats.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in incident response, including identifying, analyzing, and remediating security breaches.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows environments, as well as networking protocols and security standards.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
