Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Engineer at Chimera Rocket Labs, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components for our advanced rocket systems. This position requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving, a strong background in mechanical design, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems, including propulsion components, structural assemblies, and thermal protection systems.
  • Develop detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications using industry-standard tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, NX).
  • Perform structural, thermal, and fluid dynamic analyses to validate design performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, avionics, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Conduct prototyping, testing, and validation of components and assemblies.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving issues during assembly, testing, and launch operations.
  • Document and maintain engineering standards, reports, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • years of experience in mechanical design and analysis (preferably in aerospace or a related industry).
  • Proficiency in CAD software and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
  • Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and structural dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, machining, and/or additive manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with rocket systems, propulsion technology, or launch vehicle development.
  • Knowledge of cryogenic systems, high-temperature materials, and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as ASME, ASTM, and aerospace industry guidelines.
