Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will take on a mid-level engineering role, applying advanced mechanical design and analysis techniques to support aerospace projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that meet strict performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, and optimize aerospace mechanical components and systems.
- Conduct structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis using FEA tools such as ANSYS or NASTRAN.
- Develop and validate CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using software like SolidWorks or CATIA.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, and integration of aerospace components, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Perform design trade studies to balance weight, performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical engineering challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and test plans.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams, including manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements in materials, manufacturing processes, and aerospace technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in aerospace, defense, or related industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) and FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
- Experience with aerospace materials, structural mechanics, and thermal management.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and additive manufacturing.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate remotely.
- Self-motivated with strong project management and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in spaceflight hardware development, launch vehicle structures, or propulsion systems.
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards (AS9100, NASA specifications, MIL-STD).
- Experience with composite materials and advanced manufacturing techniques.
- Exposure to systems engineering and multidisciplinary design optimization.
