Position Overview:
As a Program Developer at Chimera Rocket Labs, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining software programs that support a variety of aerospace systems. This is a highly technical and collaborative role where you will work alongside engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to create software that powers space exploration technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience in software development, problem-solving, and working with complex systems in a mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain software programs that support aerospace technologies and space missions.
- Work closely with engineers and other developers to understand system requirements and ensure software is optimized for performance, reliability, and safety.
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or similar.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Develop and implement algorithms, data structures, and software components to support aerospace applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware systems, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
- Create and maintain documentation for code, system designs, and technical specifications.
- Perform code reviews and contribute to the development of coding standards and best practices.
- Ensure the software meets performance, security, and scalability requirements for aerospace applications.
- Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to resolve issues and improve software quality.
- Participate in system architecture discussions and provide input on software design and architecture.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continually improve software development processes.
- Collaborate with the QA team to define test cases and ensure software passes functional, performance, and security tests.
- Provide technical support for deployed systems and software, ensuring any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in software development, preferably in high-performance, mission-critical systems.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or similar.
- Experience with software development tools such as Git, version control systems, and IDEs.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
- Experience with embedded systems or real-time software development is a plus.
- Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Knowledge of software testing techniques and tools for unit, integration, and system testing.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
- A passion for space exploration and contributing to technologies that advance human space missions.
- Familiarity with aerospace systems and applications is a plus, but not required.
