Job Summary
We are seeking a Sustainability Engineer to develop and implement environmentally responsible engineering solutions in rocket design, manufacturing, and operations. The ideal candidate will analyze energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable materials, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and advancing our mission toward greener space exploration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainable engineering practices in rocket manufacturing, testing, and operations.
- Conduct life-cycle assessments to evaluate environmental impacts and optimize material selection.
- Identify and integrate sustainable materials and energy-efficient technologies in aerospace design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce carbon emissions and resource consumption.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry sustainability standards.
- Develop innovative solutions for waste reduction, recycling, and pollution prevention in rocket systems.
- Research and implement renewable energy applications in propulsion and testing infrastructure.
- Analyze sustainability metrics and present reports on environmental performance and improvements.
- Engage with suppliers and partners to promote eco-friendly supply chain practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in sustainability, environmental compliance, or green technology within aerospace, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Knowledge of life-cycle assessment (LCA), carbon footprint analysis, and sustainable materials.
- Experience with environmental regulations such as EPA, ISO 14001, or other relevant standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative, sustainable solutions.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the aerospace industry with a focus on sustainability initiatives.
- Knowledge of green propulsion technologies and renewable energy integration in aerospace.
- Certification in sustainability or environmental management (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001).
- Experience working with government agencies and regulatory bodies on environmental policies.
